Pharmaceutical document review attorneys review documentation prior to the discovery process for content. The document review attorney separates discoverable documents from non-discoverable documents. Non-discoverable documents include certain confidential documents and documents that fall under attorney-client privilege laws, such as emails and other correspondence between the attorney and the attorney's client.

Some attorneys also require extra help with document review for incoming discovery. The document review attorney might review documents for inadvertently provided confidential content matter that might be used strategically during settlement negotiations or during litigation. The document review attorney might also review documents for certain evidence needed by the lead attorney on the case.
