When a law firm takes a large intellectual property case, it may not be able to meet discovery deadlines due to document review times. The firm has an avenue of relief—legal process outsourcing. A legal staffing agency provides experienced, temporary attorneys to help with extensive document review.
Documents are reviewed for attorney-client privilege and other confidentiality issues prior to forwarding documents to the other party or parties during the discovery process. These documents are not required during the discovery process, and should not be provided. Providing certain documents for the discovery process might create more problems as it leaves the avenues open for the other party to request other certain confidential and/or attorney-client privileged documents.
A legal process outsourcing company allows firms, no matter their size, to take large intellectual property cases, as the attorneys on the case do not have to spend the hours reviewing documents for confidentiality and attorney-client privilege issues.
